Leesburg, Fla. - The softball team split this afternoon's contests at the PFX Spring Games, falling to Southern Connecticut State, 5-3, before topping Slippery Rock 9-1 in five innings. The Lions sit at 7-5 headed into the final day of the spring break trip.

Game One: SCSU 5, Molloy 3
  • Six of the game's first seven batters were retired for a scoreless first inning.
  • With two outs in the top of the second, a single from Cheralyn Dusharme and walk to Amanda King set the table for Mae Savage to give the Lions the game's first run. King would score on a double steal before the inning ended to put Molloy up, 2-0.
  • A lead-off walk in the bottom half of the inning set the table for an RBI triple and ground out to knot the contest.
  • SCSU added a two-run home run in the fourth inning.
  • A walk to Alex Burns in the fourth inning allowed King to bring Molloy within one, 4-3, with a double.
  • The Owls would take advantage of a fielding error from the Lions' infield to add an insurance run in the fifth.
  • Molloy would have base runners in both the sixth and seventh innings, but were unable to plate runs.
