Mike Andreoli, the Molloy baseball team defeated the Bears of Bloomfield, 8-2, Saturday afternoon at Lynn University. The Lions improve to 8-5, while the Bears move to 3-9.
How it Happened
- Molloy hung eight runs in the bottom of the first inning. Junior Aidan Larkin drove in a pair of runners with a double, junior Chris Einemann scored graduate student Jake McCarthy with a single, sophomore Tom Lebrecht tripled to score two runs, graduate student Robby Keane singled home a run, junior JJ DeVito ripped a double that brought home Keane, and junior Garrett Scavelli capped the inning with a double over the center fielders head to score the eighth run of the frame.
- Bloomfield tacked on a run in the third following a passed ball to shorten the deficit to seven, 8-1.
- The Bears added a run in the eighth, but would not cross the plate after that, as Molloy would close the contest victorious, 8-2.
Top Performances
- Andreoli pitched seven innings, allowing one run, none earned, and struck out 13 to move to 3-0 on the campaign.
- Lebrecht paced the lineup with three hits and two RBIs.
- DeVito, Scavelli, McCarthy, and Einemann totaled two hits each.
- Senior Nicholas Incalcaterra pitched the final two innings allowing one run and four hits while striking out five.
