Boca Raton, Fla. – The Molloy baseball team was defeated by the Lynn University Fighting Knights, 9-1, Friday afternoon on the campus of Lynn University. The Lions move to 7-5, while the Fighting Knights improve to 10-7-1.
How it Happened
- Pitching and defense ruled the first four innings, as the Lions registered two hits while the Fighting Knights were held hitless.
- Lynn broke through in the fifth inning, a solo home run and a run scored following a passed ball gave the Fighting Knights a 2-0 lead.
- The home team tacked on two more runs in the sixth with a two-run home run to extend its lead to 4-0.
- Molloy cracked the scoreboard in the top of the eighth. Graduate student Robby Keane stole second and junior Chris Einemann broke for the plate to cut the deficit to three, 4-1.
- The Fighting Knights would total five runs in the bottom of the frame and go on to solidify the victory, 9-1.
