Rockville Centre, N.Y. - The women's lacrosse team returned to action from the RVC Sports Complex tonight, falling to No. 18 University of New Haven, 14-9. This is Molloy's second contest against a top-25 team in an 0-3 start to the season. UNH opened the season with the victory.
How it Happened
- The Chargers struck first, netting two goals in the first five minutes.
- Sophomore Megan Rugolo put Molloy on the board less than one minute later, but UNH closed the first quarter with a third goal.
- Senior Amanda Weber knotted the contest, scoring twice in the first two minutes of the second frame.
- New Haven regained its lead with 12 minutes left in the half, but Rugolo added her second of the contest to once again knot the score, this time at 4-4.
- The next three goals went the way of the visitor before senior Joanna Mauceri broke the run.
- The opening half would end with two final goals from the Chargers to set the score at 9-5.
- Sophomore Brenna Signorelli netted the first goal of the third quarter to bring Molloy back within three, but the next three goals went in favor of New Haven.
- Weber completed the hat trick with a third goal to end the third quarter.
- Senior Alyssa Licata and Signorelli bookended Molloy's fourth quarter scoring before UNH took the contest, 14-9.
Top Performances
- Rugolo and Weber each led with three points.
- Signorelli and sophomore Alexa Amorison added two with Mauceri, Licata, and sophomore Sophia Quitoni each tallying one.
- Quitoni led the team with four ground balls while Weber forced two turnovers and had five draw controls.
- Sophomore Reilly Brady added four draw controls.
