Men's Lacrosse Stumbles at #13 Pace, 13-6

Pleasantville, N.Y. - The men's lacrosse team was defeated for the first time in 2023 this afternoon on the road at Pace University, falling 13-6 from Pace Stadium. Molloy sits at 2-1 while Pace opened the season with the victory.

How it Happened
  • Molloy would strike the first blow with senior Scott Capicchioni scoring an unassisted goal just four minutes into the contest.
  • Pace would find the back of the net three times in the next 12 minutes, leading 3-1 just one minute into the second quarter.
  • Junior Chris Delaney tallied a second goal for Molloy to bring the Lions within one, but the Setters quickly responded with one of their own just one minute later.
  • Delaney sent a feed to junior Jack Herzlinger, who scored his first as a Lion with just over nine minutes to play in the first half.
  • The Setters increased its lead to 6-3 before freshman Justin Palulis scored on a man-down opportunity to bring Molloy within two at the break.
  • The home team netted five goals in the third quarter with Delaney and Herzlinger connecting for a second time to set the score at 9-5 headed into the final 15 minutes of play.
  • Senior Ryan Downing cut the deficit to three midway through the fourth quarter, but Pace ended the contest with two additional goals in the victory.
Top Performances
  • Delaney led with three points on one goal and two assists.
  • Herzlinger tallied his first two goals of the season
  • Freshman Thomas Kofod and junior Adam Hyman also added assists in the effort.
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Christian Michaels led the team with six ground balls and made 14 stops. 
  • Graduate student Jordan Arbouet caused a career-high six turnovers while adding five ground balls.
  • Kofod and senior Edward McCann IV each forced three turnovers and combined for six ground balls.
