Rockville Centre, N.Y. – The Molloy women's basketball team snapped a nine-game skid defeating the Knights of Queens College, 54-52, Saturday afternoon inside Quealy Gymnasium. The Lions improve to 4-17 overall and 3-9 in East Coast Conference play, while the Knights move to 6-15 overall and 4-7 in league play.
How it Happened
- The two teams traded baskets to begin the afternoon, but a pair of free throws from freshman Casey Campo pushed Molloy in front, 8-7, 4:48 into the game.
- Molloy closed the opening stanza on a 7-2 rally to take a 17-11 lead into the second quarter.
- The cardinal and white continued its rally in the second, clinging to another 7-2 run while shooting three-of-four from the field to increase its lead to 11, 24-13, with over eight minutes to play in the half.
- Four consecutive points from Knights guard Raven Pitt cut the Molloy lead to seven, 24-17, midway through the second stanza.
- Both squads shot 43 percent from the floor to conclude the second quarter. Molloy led 32-23 heading into halftime.
