Amherst, N.Y. – The Molloy women's soccer team fell to the Wildcats of Daemen University, 4-1, Saturday afternoon at Karrer Field. The Lions move to 4-3-4 overall and 2-1-1 in East Coast Conference play, while the Wildcats improve to 6-3-1 overall and 4-0 in league play.
How it Happened
- The first chance of the contest came in the sixth minute when freshman Madison Keenan put a shot on goal that was saved.
- After sending two chances wide of target, Madita Zeitz fired a shot that was saved by freshman Elyse Muñoz in the 19th minute.
- The home team threatened in the 24th minute, but Muñoz made another save to keep them off the scoreboard.
- In the 32nd minute, Daemen cracked the scoreboard with a goal from Brooke Amato to take a 1-0 lead.
- The Wildcats would not allow another shot attempt from the Lions for the remainder of the stanza and would take the 1-0 lead into halftime.
- The Lions opened the second half knotting the score at one. Following a corner kick from senior Sarah Tappeto, Keenan found the back of the net in the 48th minute.
- Daemen drew a foul inside the box and won a penalty kick in the 54th minute. Zeitz was chosen as the shooter and converted the try to give the Wildcats a 2-1 lead.
- Two minutes later, sophomore Olivia Ingenito looked for the equalizer, but Daemen goalkeeper Becca Schultz denied the chance.
- The home team took a two-goal lead, 3-1, in the 66th minute with a goal from Magda Carpenter.
- The Wildcats netted another goal in the 75th minute and would go on to solidify the victory, 4-1.
