Seaford, N.Y.- The field hockey team was downed by the American International Yellow Jackets this afternoon, 3-0. Molloy falls to 0-9 overall and 0-7 in Northeast-10 play, while American International moves to 6-5 and 3-4 in league play.
How it Happened
- The Yellow Jackets notched the opening goal of the game within the first seven minutes of play.
- American International's Mia Wood extended the lead early in the second frame.
- Sophomore Nikki Longhitano had a scoring chance off a pass from sophomore Dayanna Ortiz-More in the 28th minute of play, but it was intercepted before Longhitano could get the shot off.
- Ortiz More broke through the visitor's defense and drew penalty corner to grant Molloy another opportunity to end the first half, but the Lions were unable to take advantage of it.
- Junior Kelsey Price made four saves in the third quarter to keep the score at 2-0.
- Dominique Bassallo tallied a goal for the black and gold in the fourth stanza. to round out the scoring 3-0.
