Muro Tallies Three Assists; Four Score in Women’s Soccer Win over D’Youville

Rockville Centre, N.Y. – Freshman Isabella Muro tied a program record dishing out three assists in Wednesday nights, 5-2, victory for the Molloy women's soccer team over the Saints of D'Youville University. Molloy improves to 6-4-4 overall and 3-2-1 in East Coast Conference play, while the Saints move to 3-6-3 overall and 2-2-1 in league play.

How it Happened
  • The Lions offense was relentless tallying three shots in the opening six minutes. Two shots from graduate student Caitlin Kennedy were saved and a shot taken by freshman Madison Keenan rang off the crossbar.
  • Molloy broke through in the 10th minute streaking down the right flank, Muro found sophomore Olivia Ingenito who cut into the box and fired her shot into the back of the net to put Molloy on the scoreboard, 1-0.
  • Saints' goalkeeper Kailie Regan made consecutive saves in the 11th and 13th minutes to keep the deficit contest at 1-0.
  • In the 17th minute, senior Sarah Tappeto blasted a shot from 30 yards away into the upper right corner to give the Lions a 2-0 lead.
  • Over the next 22 minutes of play, Molloy would not allow a shot and generate four chances for themselves but could not get one to cross the line.
  • After winning a corner in the 42nd minute, Tappeto played the corner short side to graduate student Lauren Marinello, who then passed it back to the Merrick native and collected her second long distance goal of the contest, giving the Lions a 3-0 lead heading into halftime.
  • Tappeto looked for the hat trick 15 seconds into the second stanza, but her attempt was denied by the Saints goalkeeper.
  • In the 54th minute, the cardinal and white created a three-on-two odd-man rush. Muro found a streaking Kennedy inside of the box who buried it into the net extending the lead, 4-0.
  • Two minutes later, Muro was able to connect with Marinello who able sneak past the backline of the defense and score to give Molloy a commanding 5-0 advantage.
  • D'Youville was able to snap the shut out, after scoring on a free kick from atop the 18-yard box in the 63rd minute cutting the deficit down to four, 5-1.
  • 10 minutes later Molloy was called for a hand ball inside of the box to set up a penalty kick for the visitors. Hanna Dino of the Saints stepped to the penalty spot and was able to convert to come within three, 5-2.
