Field Hockey Scores Season-High in Loss to St. Michael's

Seaford, N.Y.- The Lions fell 4-2 in a hard-fought battle this afternoon against Saint Michael's College. Following the contest, the Lions sit at 0-12 (0-10 NE10) and the Purple Knights improve to 3-11 (3-6 NE10).

How it Happened
  • The Purple Knights set the pace by scoring two goals in the first 13 minutes of action.
  • Junior Kassandra Sakhat answered 34 seconds later on a goal off a corner, assisted by sophomore Madi Stuckart.
  • Bridgie Loughlin and Anna Comiskey both scored in the second frame to give Saint Michael's a 4-1 advantage.
  • Sophomore Dayanna Ortiz-More notched her first goal of the season assisted by junior Bella Bigeni in the third quarter to bring the home team within two goals.
  • Junior Devin Harkins and Bigeni each had opportunities on a corner in the final eight minutes of play, but Molloy was not able to find the back of the net.
  • The Lions out-shot its opponent 24-16, marking a new season-high shot attempts for the team.
Top Performances
  • Harkins took nine shots, three of which were on goal.
  • Sakhat recorded four shots.
  • Juniors Alexa Denis and Bigeni, and sophomores Alessandra Vidal and Ortiz-More all tallied two or more shots.
  • Sophomore Catherine Amini and Stuckart both had a shot on goal.
  • Junior Kelsey Price made eight saves.
