Flushing. N.Y. – The Molloy women's basketball team fell to the Knights of Queens College, 54-46, inside South Gym Wednesday evening. The Lions move to 3-10 overall and 2-3 in East Coast Conference play, while the Knights improve to 4-8 overall and 2-2 in league play.
How it Happened
- Back-to-back lay ups from sophomore Samantha Muller and freshman Brianna James had the Lions within one, 5-4, 3:22 into the contest.
- The home team went on a 9-0 rally to increase its lead to 14-4 and would close the opening stanza ahead, 17-9.
- The first four points of the second went to the Knights, but a jumper from graduate student Nora Gabel brought the Lions within 10, 21-11, with 5:55 left in the first half.
- 1:09 later, junior Trinity Hudson recorded her first field goal with a three-point basket to close the deficit to nine, 23-14.
- Graduate student Gianni Domond sunk a lay-up with over two minutes remaining in the stanza to cut the lead down, 26-18.
- Queens closed the first half on a 7-0 run to take a 33-18 lead into halftime.
- Molloy opened the third stanza on a 13-2 rally while shooting 62.5 percent from the field, highlighted by freshman Rosa Rizzitelli who netted eight points. The Lions trailed, 35-31, with 3:32 remaining in the third quarter.
- Rizzitelli drained a three-point shot with 1:32 to go, Molloy trailed, 45-36, going into the fourth quarter.
- After Queens netted the first four points of the quarter, Molloy rallied on a 10-2 run with baskets from Rizzitelli, James, Muller, and Gabel to cut the deficit to 51-46, with 3:34 to play.
- Neither team would record a field goal over the next three minutes of action, but three free-throws from Queens in the final 27 seconds would seal the victory, 54-46.

- Rizzitelli tied a game-high 14 points and brought down 10 rebounds to collect her second double-double of the season.
- Muller totaled eight points and a game-high six assists.
