Rockville Centre, N.Y. – The Molloy women's basketball team fell to the Wildcats of Daemen University, 69-40, Friday evening inside Quealy Gymnasium. The Lions move to 3-16 overall and 2-8 in ECC play, while the Wildcats improve to 11-4 and 6-3 in league play.
How it Happened
- Back-to-back layups from junior Trinity Hudson and sophomore Janel Moore had the score knotted at four in the opening minutes.
- A 7-0 run from the road team pushed them ahead, 11-4, midway through the opening stanza.
- A jumper from graduate student Gianni Domond brought Molloy within three, 11-8, with 4:08 to go in the first. Molloy trailed, 17-10, after the first stanza.
- Daemen opened the quarter on a 8-1 rally to take a 25-11 lead with 7:02 remaining in the first half.
- A three-point basket from freshman Rosa Rizzitelli and a jumper from Moore brought the Lions within 10, 26-16, with 3:21 remaining in the second quarter.
- Freshman Samantha Muller netted the next five points for the Lions to keep the deficit at 10, 31-21.
- Molloy went into halftime down, 36-22.
- The two teams traded baskets to begin the third quarter, a layup from Domond cut the deficit to 15, 43-28.
- Daemen would not allow the Lions to close the gap any further and would go on to win the game, 69-40.
Top Performances
- Domond paced the offense with 12 points while pulling down seven rebounds.
- Muller totaled 12 points, five rebounds and two steals.
- Hudson swiped three steals.
