Borsellino Nets Two Goals in Women’s Soccer Victory over Stonehill

Rockville Centre, N.Y. – The Molloy women's soccer team won its fourth straight contest Sunday afternoon defeating the Skyhawks of Stonehill, 3-0, at John A. Darcy Field. The Lions improved to 4-0, while the Skyhawks fell to 1-4.
 
How it Happened
  • Stonehill generated the first goal scoring chance of the afternoon in the seventh minute, but junior goalkeeper Shannon Kilian made a save.
  • Two minutes later, senior Sienna Nicolich put her first shot on goal that was saved by Stonehill goalkeeper Hanna Copley.
  • The Molloy offense continued its attack over the next nine minutes of play, with four shots, three on goal, but were held off the scoreboard.
  • In the 31st minute, off a free kick, and a failed clear, sophomore Alessandra Borsellino found the back of the net to put the Lions ahead, 1-0.
  • The Skyhawks had an opportunity with 21 seconds remaining in the half but put a shot wide of the goal. Molloy led, 1-0, going into halftime.
  • In the 53rd minute, graduate student Morgan Camarda received the ball at the top of the 18-yard box, swung it to senior Joanna Graca streaking down the right side, who then crossed it into Borsellino who buried her second goal of the game to push Molloy ahead, 2-0.
  • Four minutes later off a throw in from junior Sarah Tappeto, sophomore Natalia Piotrowski headed in her first goal of the season to increase the Molloy lead to, 3-0.
  • The Lions backline would not allow Stonehill to generate many clean chances at the net for the rest of the contest, as Kilian was only forced to make one save in the second half. Molloy went on to close out the game, 3-0.

  • Borsellino totaled two goals.
  • Piotrowski scored her first goal of the season.
  • Camarda, Graca, and Tappeto each tallied an assist.
  • Kilian made two saves and collected her fourth shutout of the season.
