Lakewood, N.J. – The Molloy women's soccer team and the Lions of Georgian Court University played to a 2-2 draw Wednesday afternoon at Investors Bank Field. Molloy moved to 7-2-2, while Georgian Court moved to 1-4-5.
How it Happened
- In the first 15 minutes of action, the road team fired three consecutive shots in a 90 second span. Graduate student Morgan Camarda, and juniors Sarah Tappeto, and Eleni Sofroniou had their shots saved by Georigan Court goalkeeper Alyssa Dias.
- The home team responded with the game's first goal off the foot of forward Krystal Hund.
- Freshman Olivia Ingenito looked to crack the scoreboard, but her attempt was denied by the home teams goalkeeper.
- In the 19th minute Molloy earned a corner. Off the corner, Tappeto connected with senior Lindsey McCarthy who headed into the back of the net to knot the contest at one.
- 47 seconds later, Molloy pulled ahead, 2-1, following a goal from Camarda.
- Georgian Court had an opportunity to pull the contest even in the 37th minute. A header from forward Abby Kennelly was saved by junior goalkeeper Shannon Kilian.
- Molloy led, 2-1, going into halftime.
- Freshman Mikaela Barriga tallied three consecutive shots to begin the second half in a 91 second span.
- Barriga had her shot saved in the 52nd minute to keep the score at 2-1.
- In the 75th minute, the home Lions had an opportunity to tie the contest, but Kilian made a huge save to keep the game at bay.
- Sophomore Nicole Fabris looked to put the game out of reach in the 82nd minute, but her chance was stopped by Dias.
- In the 89th minute, Georgian Court found the back of the net as Hund netted her second of the afternoon to bring the game back to all square where it would end, 2-2.
Top Performances
- Camarda and McCarthy netted their second goals of the season.
- Tappeto added an assist to bring her total to 10 on the campaign.
- Barriga paced the team in shots (8) and shots on goal (4).
- Killian made four saves.
