Dobson's Late Goal Salvages Men's Soccer Draw at STAC

Sparkill, N.Y. - The men's soccer team remained undefeated in East Coast Conference play on the effort of a goal in the 85th minute from junior Ryan Dobson in Molloy's 1-1 draw at Saint Thomas Aquinas College. The Lions improved to 2-2-4 on the season and 1-0-1 in league play while STAC now sits at 3-1-3 (0-0-2 ECC).

How it Happened
  • The Lions outshot the Spartans 6-4 in the opening 45 minutes of play, including two headers by freshman Adam Lesniewski.
  • STAC got on the board in the 26th minute as Christian Ferlisi scored on a rebound from Kevon Evans.
  • Senior J.P. Rodriguez had an attempt saved by Tabor McDaniels in the final minutes of the opening half to keep the game 1-0.
  • Junior Andy Blanco had an opportunity in the opening minutes of the second half that was also stopped by McDaniels.
  • Dobson's equalizer came with just over five minutes left on the clock.
  • The Spartans had a shot blocked with four minutes left to play before missing the net wide in a shot in the final seconds of action as the match resulted in a draw.
Top Performances
  • Molloy outshot STAC 15-9 on the afternoon, including eight shots on goal. 
  • Dobson and Lesniewski each fired three shots. 
  • Graduate student keeper Nick Conklu made four saves.

The Lions return to Rockville Centre on Wednesday (Sept. 21) as they face the University of the District of Columbia at 6:00 p.m. from John A. Darcy Field.
