Caldwell, N.J. – The Molloy women's soccer team won its third straight contest defeating the Cougars of Caldwell, 2-0, Wednesday afternoon at Caldwell Field. The Lions improved to 3-0, while the Cougars fell to 1-1-1.
How it Happened
- The Lions had the first chance of the contest when sophomore Nicole Fabris had her shot saved by Caldwell goalkeeper Ariana Gaminara in the fifth minute.
- Senior Sienna Nicolich had a pair of opportunities in the 20th and 21st minute but couldn't convert, keeping the game scoreless.
- The home team responded with a shot on goal that was saved by junior goalkeeper Shannon Kilian.
- In the 37th minute, Nicolich found the back of the net off a pass from junior Sarah Tappeto to give Molloy a, 1-0, lead going into halftime.
- 2:03 into the second stanza junior Erin Fogarty took a pass from Tappeto and converted to increase the lead to 2-0.
- The two-goal lead was more than enough for the Lions backline, as they did not allow a shot on goal in the second half. Molloy closed the contest securing the victory, 2-0.
