ECC Men's Lacrosse Semifinal Preview: #3 Molloy vs. #2 Frostburg

Frostburg, Md. – The third-seeded Molloy men's lacrosse team travels to play the second-seeded Frostburg Bobcats Wednesday, May 4 at Bobcat Stadium.

About the Lions:
  • Molloy finished the regular season 7-9 overall and 4-2 in East Coast Conference play.
  • The four conference wins were the most since the 2017 season.
  • Freshman Christian Michaels leads the ECC in saves (226) and is third in save percentage (59.2). The two-time ECC Defensive Player of the Week has set the program's single-game saves record with 24 twice.
  • Graduate student Nick Del Giorno leads the team in goals (25) and points (40). He has tallied 15 assists on the season.
  • Sophomore Chris Delaney leads the team with 19 assists and is second with 38 points.
  • Junior Ryan Downing and graduate student Jack Egan are tied for second on the team with 24 goals.
  • Sophomore Liam Linden is second in the ECC in caused turnovers (29) to go along with 42 ground balls.
  • Senior Jordan Arbouet has 23 caused turnovers, and junior Edward McCann IV has 22 caused turnovers to rank third and fourth in the conference.
     
Playoff History:
  • The third-seeded Lions fell to the second-seeded Roberts Wesleyan Redhawks, 19-8, in last season's ECC Semifinal.
  • The game was the program's first postseason contest since 2018.
  • Delaney, senior Brian Ford, junior Sean Plasencia, and Del Giorno all found the back of the net against the Redhawks.
Frostburg:
  • The Bobcats finished the regular season 10-7 overall and 4-2 in ECC play.
  • Jake Bowman leads the team in goals (30) and points (55).
  • Molloy fell to Frostburg, 14-6, in the regular season.
  • Freshman Ryan Polehinke tallied two points (one goal and one assist), Arbouet tallied four caused turnovers and three ground balls, and Michaels made 17 saves.
