Seniors Stand Out in #14 Men's Lacrosse Win Over RV Mercy; Molloy Clinches Regular Season

Rockville Centre, N.Y.- The #14 men's lacrosse team remains undefeated in conference play with a 17-11 win against Mercy University this afternoon in a rematch of last year's East Coast Conference Championship. With the win, the Lions improve to 11-3 (5-0 ECC), and the Mavericks drop to 6-5, (2-1 ECC). The victory clinches Molloy the 2026 Regular Season Championship and hosting rights for the ECC Tournament, beginning April 29. 

Prior to the contest, the men's lacrosse program recognized the 13 members of the senior class that will be graduating in May in a Senior Day Ceremony. Those recognized were Justin Palulis (childhood education), Brandon Pazienza (finance), Eric Schiller (education), Jaden McLeod (criminal justice), Timothy Morrow (adolescent education), James Franz (respiratory care), Nick Taiani (biology), Jake Taylor (childhood education), Thomas Kofod (accounting), John Basile (accounting), Tommy Corcoran (childhood education), Noah Hammon (childhood education), and Zach Kroog (criminal justice).

How it Happened
  • The Lions' seniors set the tone early, as Taylor, Pazienza, and Palulis each found the back of the net within the opening four minutes.
  • Taylor added his second goal of the game off a feed from senior Brian Green, giving Molloy a 4-0 advantage.
  • Mercy responded midway through the first quarter with goals from Jack Agres and Matthew Magyar to cut the deficit to two.
  • Hammon answered with his first tally to restore a three-goal lead for the Lions.
  • The Mavericks capitalized on a man-up opportunity late in the quarter to head into the second down 5-3.
  • In the second frame, Green and freshman Jaden Simick struck early to extend the cardinal and white's lead.
  • Mercy's Cole Hunsberger scored back-to-back goals before Kofod responded, making it 8-5.
  • Hunsberger completed the hat trick, and Agres added an extra-man goal to bring Mercy within one, the closest margin they'd see on the contest.
  • Corcoran closed the half with a goal in the final four minutes, giving the Lions a 9-7 lead at the break.
  • The third quarter remained scoreless for the first six minutes of play before the Lions scored three straight goals from Simick, Pazienza, and Hammon.
  • Devon Duchnowski stopped the run a minute later, but Simick and Kroog quickly responded with goals to push the lead to six.
  • Agres completed his hat trick heading into the final frame.
  • In the fourth, both teams exchanged man-up goals before Agres scored his fourth of the game to make it 15-11.
  • Green capped the scoring with back-to-back goals, with one coming on an extra man advantage, to secure the 17-11 win.
Top Performances
  • Green (4 goals, 1 assist) and Simick (3 goals, 2 assists) each tallied five points on the afternoon.
  • Taylor and Hammon both finished with two goals, with Taylor adding an assist.
  • Pazienza contributed two goals, went 15-for-23 at the face-off X, and collected a game-high eight ground balls.
  • Palulis totaled one goal and two assists, while Kofod and Corcoran each added a goal and an assist. Kroog tallied one goal.
  • Morrow dished out three assists.
  • Sophomore Liam Taylor caused three turnovers.
  • Basile made nine saves in net.
