Peralta's Sac Fly Lifts #2 Molloy Past #7 Le Moyne in First Round of NCAA Regional, 5-4

Uniondale, N.Y. – Senior Chris Peralta hit a walk-off sac fly in the 12th inning leading the #2 Molloy baseball team to a 5-4 victory over the #7 Le Moyne Dolphins Thursday afternoon at Mitchel Field. The Lions improved to 37-12 overall, while the Dolphins moved to 26-24.

How it Happened
  • Le Moyne jumped ahead 2-0 in the top of the third. Senior Drew Carroll hit an RBI double down the right-field line, and graduate student Mike Smith him a sac fly, which scored junior Zach Brush.
  • The Lions scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth to take a 3-2 advantage. Junior David Franchi hit a two-run double down the left-field line, and senior Robby Keane hit a sac fly, which brought home Franchi.
  • Sophomore Chris Einemann hit an RBI single to right field to make it 4-2 in the eighth.
  • The Dolphins recorded two runs in the top of the ninth to even the score, 4-4. Graduate student Nick Hansen grounded out scoring graduate student Derrick Miller. Graduate student Drew Fureno hit an RBI single to the shortstop.
  • Peralta's sac fly scored sophomore Garrett Scavelli securing the win for the maroon and white.
Top Performances
  • Franchi tallied three hits and two RBIs.
  • Graduate student Matt Overton and Scavelli recorded two hits and two runs scored.
  • Einemann and Keane drove in one run each.
  • Junior Charlie Cucchiara threw eighth innings, gave up two runs, on six hits, and struck out two batters.
  • Redshirt freshman Connor Huckemeyer threw a scoreless inning and fanned one batter to pick up his first victory of the season.
