Uniondale, N.Y. – The Molloy baseball team fell to the Mercy Mavericks, 5-3, in 10 innings Friday afternoon at Mitchel Field. The Lions moved to 19-9 overall and 5-2 in ECC Play, while the Mavericks improved to 12-15-1 overall and 5-2 in conference play.
How it Happened
- Graduate student Peter Theodorellis hit an RBI double in the third to make it 1-0.
- The Mavericks knotted the score, 1-1, with a run in the eighth.
- After Mercy plated four runs in the top of the 10th, sophomore Chris Einemann hit a two-run home run to left to cut the advantage to 5-3, but that was as close as the maroon and white would get.
Top Performances
- Theodorellis and senior Patrick Hoffman tallied two hits each.
- Einemann, who hit his first career home run, drove in two runs.
- Junior Charlie Cucchiara threw nine innings, gave up one run, on seven hits, and struck out four batters.
