Philadelphia, Pa. – The Molloy softball team swept a doubleheader with the Jefferson Rams, 13-3 and 12-5, Sunday afternoon at the Jefferson Softball Field. The Lions improved to 22-25 overall, while Jefferson fell to 11-21.
Game One: Molloy 13, Jefferson 3
- Jefferson scored a run in the bottom of the first to go ahead 1-0.
- Senior Marissa Nicoletti hit an RBI single, and freshman Cheralyn Dusharme hit a sac fly, which scored graduate student Courtney Greene and made it 2-1 in the second.
- In the third, Greene grounded out, which scored junior Karsyn Eaton and increase the Lions' advantage to 3-1.
- Molloy used a five-run fourth inning to make it 8-1. Junior Steph Conrade hit a two-RBI single, senior Amanda King drove in two runs with a triple, and later scored on an error.
- With the score 8-3, Eaton and King, who tallied three hits and drove in three runs, hit RBI doubles, King scored on an error, Nicoletti, who recorded three hits and two RBIs, hit an RBI double, and senior Alex Burns hit an RBI single to extend the away team's lead to 13-3 in the sixth.
- In the circle, Greene pitched five innings gave up three runs, on six hits, and struck out three to improve to 10-13 on the season.
Game Two: Molloy 12, Jefferson 5
- King hit an RBI single in the first and scored on a wild pitch to give the maroon and white an early 2-0 lead.
- Dusharme hit a two-run double, and scored on an error, and Burns hit a two-run home run to make it 7-0 in the third.
- Ahead 7-3, freshman Natalie Moussa hit an RBI single, and Nicoletti grounded out, which scored Greene and extended the lead to 9-3.
- Greene, who recorded two hits and drove in four runs, hit a two-RBI single in the fifth to make it 11-3.
- In the seventh, freshman Maya Cepeda hit a sac fly, which scored Conrade, who went 5-for-5, and made it 12-4.
- King fanned four batters in seven innings pitched to move to 12-11 in 2022.
