Uniondale, N.Y. - The Molloy baseball team topped the College of Staten Island Dolphins,10-2, Friday afternoon at Mitchel Field. The Lions improved to 25-11 overall and 11-2 in ECC play, while the Dolphins fell to 9-19 overall and 2-9 in conference play.
How it Happened
- The Lions jumped ahead 1-0 in the bottom of the first . Redshirt senior Thomas Brady grounded out, which scored senior Vincent Pecora.
- The Dolphins evened the score, 1-1, with a run in the top of the second.
- In the bottom half of the frame, sophomore Gavin McAlonie hit a two-RBI double to right center to put the maroon and white ahead 3-1.
- Graduate student Peter Theodorellis hit an RBI double in the fourth to increase the advantage to 4-1.
- After CSI cut the lead to 4-2 in the fifth, junior David Franchi hit an RBI double to center, and Pecora hit a two-RBI single up the the middle to make it 7-2 in the fifth.
- In the seventh, senior Chris Peralta hit an RBI single to left to extend the home team's lead to 8-2.
- Peralta drove in two runs with a single to left to make it 10-2 in the eighth.
Top Performances
- Peralta recorded three hits, three RBIs, and stole three bases. .
- Pecora tallied three hits, drove in two runs, and stole two bases.
- Franchi registered two hits and one RBI, and graduate student Matt Overton and sophomore Chris Einemann added two hits apiece.
- Junior Charlie Cucchiara threw eight innings gave up two runs, one earned, on six hits, and struck out six to improve to 6-0 on the year.
