Softball Scores 15 Runs in Game Two Win Over GCU

Rockville Centre, N.Y. – The Molloy softball team split a doubleheader with the Georgian Court Lions, 1-2 and 15-1, Thursday afternoon at Bob Klein Field. The Lions moved to 19-24, while GCU moved to 28-12.

Game One: Molloy 1, Georgian Court 2
  • GCU jumped ahead 1-0 with a run in the first inning.
  • The away team added a run in the fifth to increase its advantage to 2-0.
  • In the bottom of the fifth, senior Alex Burns hit an RBI single to center to cut the lead to 2-1.
  • Junior Karsyn Eaton tallied two hits.
  • Graduate student Courtney Greene threw a complete game, gave up two runs, on five hits, and struck out eight.
Game Two: Molloy 15, Georgian Court 1
  • After GCU went ahead 1-0 in the top of the first, Molloy recorded three runs to take a 3-1 lead. Senior Amanda King hit a two-run double down the right field line, and Greene hit an RBI single to center field.
  • Greene hit a sac fly, which scored junior Steph Conrade, and freshman Natalie Moussa hit an RBI single to center to increase the advantage to 5-1.
  • The maroon and white used a 10-run fourth inning to make it 15-1. Eaton hit a two-run double to right center, Greene hit a three-run home run to right, Burns hit a three-RBI double to right, and Eaton capped the rally with a two-RBI triple to right.
  • Greene tallied two hits and drove in five runs.
  • Eaton scored three RBIs, collected three hits, and four RBIs, and Burns scored two runs, registered two hits and three RBIs.
  • In the circle, King threw five innings gave up one run, on three hits, and fanned eight batters.
