Pleasantville, N.Y. – The Molloy softball team fell to the Pace Setters, 3-0 and 8-2, Wednesday afternoon at Pace Softball Field. The Lions fell to 15-20, while the Setters improved to 17-8.
Game One: Molloy 1, Pace 3
- The Setters began the contest with an RBI triple and a run-scoring groundout to take an early 2-0 lead.
- Pace added to its lead in the bottom of the fifth with an RBI double to increase its lead to 3-0.
- Molloy broke through in the sixth, junior Karsyn Eaton drilled a double to left field that scored a run to cut the deficit to two, 3-1.
- Pace starting pitcher Gisselle Garcia held the Lions at bay for the remainder of the contest, to propel the Setters to a, 3-1, victory.
Game Two: Molloy 2, Pace 8
- Pitching and defense were the name of the game for the first three innings of softball in game two. Graduate student Courtney Greene and Pace starting pitcher Anna Acevedo allowed a combined two hits through three innings of play to keep the game scoreless.
- The Setters blasted a grand slam in the bottom of the fourth to take a, 4-0, lead.
- The Lions answered in the top of the fifth, junior Emma Bachman singled home junior Akemi Poyer to cut into the lead 4-1.
- The home team added four runs of insurance in the bottom of the sixth to take a, 8-1, lead.
- Senior Alex Burns notched an RBI single to close the game, 8-2.
