Rockville Centre, N.Y. – On the back of six home runs, the Molloy softball team swept a doubleheader with the Felician Golden Falcons, 13-1 and 10-2, Sunday afternoon at Bob Klein Field. The Lions improved to 14-17, while the Golden Falcons fell to 10-13.
Game One: Molloy 13, Felician 1
- Junior Karsyn Eaton scored off a throwing error to give Molloy an early, 1-0, lead in the bottom of the first.
- Two pitches later, senior Amanda King launched a grand slam over the left center field fence, to push the Lions ahead, 5-0.
- The maroon and white plated a run following an error in the second, to increase its lead to, 6-0.
- Felician scored a run in the third to cut the deficit to five, 6-1.
- The Lions complied a six-run third inning, highlighted by back-to-back home runs from senior Alex Burns and freshman Natalie Moussa which was her first collegiate home run gave Molloy a 12-1lead after three innings of play.
- King, who totaled five RBIS, plated the final run of the game in the fourth with an RBI ground out, leading Molloy to a 13-1 victory..
- King pitched three innings allowing one run, two hits, and struck out two batters to improve to 5-9 on the season.
- Moussa threw the final two innings while striking out three.
Game Two: Molloy 10, Felician 2
- The Lions' bats stayed hot going into game two, freshman Alaina Spates cracked a two-run home run in the bottom of the first to give the home team an early 2-0 lead.
- The maroon and white tallied a third run in the bottom of the second to extend its lead to 3-0.
- The Golden Falcons plated two runs in the top of the fifth, to cut the Molloy lead to one, 3-2.
- Molloy plated seven runs in the bottom of the fifth to close out the contest, sending eight batters to the plate. Sophomore Chrissie Huhn singled home junior Emma Bachman, Spates who had five RBIs, belted her second home run of the afternoon, this time a three-run home run, King doubled to score graduate student Courtney Greene, and freshman Cheralyn Dusharme capped the afternoon hitting her first collegiate home run that brought in King to end the contest, 10-2, in five innings.
- Greene went five innings giving up five hits, two runs, and struck out three to move to 9-7 on the 2022 campaign.
- Junior Steph Conrade tallied two hits to extend her hitting streak to 18 games.
