Pomona, N.Y. – The Molloy baseball team defeated the St. Thomas Aquinas Spartans, 17-7, Friday afternoon at Clover Stadium. The Lions improved to 18-6 overall and 4-0 in ECC play, while the Spartans fell to 9-13 overall and 3-1 in conference. Head coach

How it Happened
- STAC tallied a run in the first to go ahead 1-0.
- In the third, senior Chris Peralta hit an RBI double to even the score, 1-1.
- The Lions took a 4-1 advantage in the fourth. Sophomore Chris Einemann hit a two-RBI double, and senior Robby Keane hit a sacrifice fly, which scored senior Patrick Hoffman.
- The Spartans recorded a run in the bottom of the fourth.
- Hoffman hit a solo home run to right, Keane hit an RBI double to right center, and redshirt senior Thomas Brady hit an RBI single to the pitcher to extend the maroon and white's lead to 7-2 in the sixth.
- In the bottom half of the frame, the home team plated four runs to cut the lead to one, 7-6.
- In the seventh, Keane hit a sac fly, which scored junior David Franchi to make it 8-6.
- STAC answered with one run, 8-7, in the bottom of the seventh.
- The Lions tallied four runs in the eighth to increase the advantage to 12-7. Sophomore Garrett Scavelli hit an RBI single, Franchi hit an RBI double, and Einemann hit a two-RBI single.
- Molloy used a five-run ninth inning to make it 17-7. Overton hit a two-RBI single, Franchi hit a sac fly, which scored Brady, Einemann walked with the bases loaded, and Keane hit a sac fly, which brought home Scavelli.
Top Performances
- Einemann went 4-for-5 with five runs batted in and one run scored.
- Keane recorded two hits, and drove in four runs, and Overton and Franchi tallied two hits and two RBIs.
- Junior Charlie Cucchiara pitched six innings and struck out five batters to improve to 4-0 on the season.
