Lakewood, N.J. – The Molloy men's lacrosse team fell to the Georgian Court Lions, 19-15, Wednesday afternoon at the GCU Track and Field Complex. Molloy fell to 2-4, while GCU moved to 1-5.
How it Happened
- The maroon and white went ahead 2-0 on goals from freshman Bryan Dileberto and senior Brian Ford.
- After the home team made it 2-1, graduate Nick Del Giorno found the back of the net to increase the advantage to 3-1.
- Sophomore Mikey Rodin tallied a goal to put Molloy ahead 4-2.
- The game was tied at four at the end of the first frame.
- GCU scored the first three goals of the second stanza to go up 7-4.
- After a Del Gionro goal, the home team tallied the final four goals of the half and led 11-5 at the break.
- GCU opened the third quarter with three consecutive tallies.
- Del Giorno and graduate student Jack Egan scored to make it 14-7.
- Down 15-7, the maroon and white went on a 6-0, sparked by two goals from junior Sean Plasencia, to cut the advantage to 15-13.
- Two goals was as close as Molloy would get, as GCU went on to win 19-15.
Top Performances
- Del Giorno (four goals) and Rodin (one goal and three assists) led the team with four points.
- Ford (two goals and one assist), Plasencia (two goals and one assist), Diliberto (one goal and two assists), and sophomore Chris Delaney (one goal and two assists) registered three points each.
- Senior Jordan Arbouet tallied five ground balls and caused two turnovers, and sophomore Liam Linden picked four ground balls and caused two turnovers.
