Peralta Blasts Two Home Runs, Drives in Three Runs; Baseball Tops Adelphi, 8-3

Garden City, N.Y. – The Molloy baseball team defeated the Adelphi Panthers, 8-3, Sunday afternoon at Bonomo Field. The Lions improved to 6-3, while the Panthers fell to 2-2.

How it Happened
  • Sophomore Chris Einemann grounded out, which allowed senior David Franchi to score and put the Lions ahead 1-0 in the second.
  • In the fourth, senior Chris Peralta hit a solo home run to center field to increase the advantage to 2-0.
  • Adelphi cut the lead to 2-1 in the fifth.
  • Peralta hit a solo home run to left, and senior Robby Keane hit a sac fly to make it 4-1 in the sixth.
  • After the Panthers cut the lead to 4-3, senior Matt Overton and Peralta picked up RBIs in the seventh to increase the advantage to 6-3.
  • Senior Peter Theodorellis hit an RBI double in the eighth, and senior Patrick Hoffman grounded out to score Peralta in the ninth en route to an 8-3 victory.
Top Performances
  • Peralta hit two home runs, drove in three runs, and scored three runs. The Lynbrook, N.Y. native has five home runs on the season.
  • Theodorellis and Keane each tallied three hits, one RBI, and one run scored.
  • Redshirt senior Thomas Brady and Franchi collected two hits apiece.
  • Graduate student Mike Andreoli threw 5.1 innings, gave up three runs, on five hits, and struck out three to improve to 2-1 on the year.
  • Graduate student Billy Wildeman pitched 3.2 innings, gave up one hit, and fanned five for his first save of 2022.
