Oxford, PA – The Molloy baseball team completed a three-game sweep of Lincoln University defeating the Lions, 23-7, Sunday afternoon at Oxford High School. The maroon and white improved to 16-5 overall and 3-0 in East Coast Conference play, while Lincoln fell to 4-20 overall and 0-3 in conference play.
How It Happened
- Lincoln started quickly, plating five runs in the first inning.
- Molloy trimmed the deficit to three, 5-2, in the top of the fourth. Senior Robby Keane walked with the bases loaded, which scored junior David Franchi, and senior Vincent Pecora reached on a fielder's choice that plated senior Patrick Hoffman.
- The Lions broke through in the top of the sixth, hanging 12 runs on Lincoln to take a 14-5 lead. Sophomore Chris Einemann scored off a wild pitch, Pecroa doubled to bring home Keane, senior Chris Peralta walked with the bases loaded to tie the contest at five.
- Later in the sixth, Franchi followed Peralta reaching base off an error to bring graduate student Peter Theodorellis home, senior Patrick Hoffman plated a run by reaching on a fielder's choice, Peralta crossed the plate following a wild pitch, Einemann singled home Franchi, Theodorellis walked with the bases loaded, redshirt senior Thomas Brady singled to center field to score two runners, Peralta walked to bring home Theodorellis, and to cap the inning, Franchi reached on an error that brought in Brady.

- The maroon and white added to its lead in the eighth, Hoffman walked with the bases loaded, Einemann scored Peralta on an RBI ground out, sophomore Stephen Collica doubled down the left field line to bring home two runners, and Pecora scored Collica with an RBI single to right to give Molloy a 19-5 advantage.
- The road team tacked on four runs in the ninth to close out the contest, 23-7.
- Graduate student Billy Wildeman threw seven innings and gave up four earned runs, on three hits, and fanned nine batters to improve to 3-1 on the season.
- Junior Nicholas Incalcaterra struck out three in a perfect eighth inning of work.
- Junior AJ Verga capped the game in the ninth and gave up one earned run.
