Buffalo, N.Y. – The Molloy women's lacrosse team topped the D'Youville Saints, 12-10, Saturday afternoon at the Dobson Field. The Lions improved to 6-5 overall and 1-0 in East Coast Conference play, while the Saints fell to 4-5 overall and 0-1 in league play.
How it Happened
- Senior Abbie Bellport, and freshmen Alexa Amorison, and Megan Rugolo found the back of the net to put the Lions ahead 3-0.
- After the home team made it 3-1, junior Olivia Vail scored to increase the advantage to 4-1.
- D'Youville scored the next two goals, and junior Joanna Mauceri tallied a goal to put Molloy ahead 5-3 at the half.
- Amorison started the third quarter with a goal to extend the lead to 6-3.
- Up 6-5, Bellport and junior Haille Ross recorded goals, and the maroon and white led 8-5 at the end of the third stanza.
- Junior Amanda Weber registered three goals, and Mauceri added another in the fourth en route to a 12-8 victory.
Top Performances
- Ross (one goal and two assists), Amorison (two goals and one assist), and Weber (three goals) recorded three points each.
- Bellport and Mauceri tallied two goals apiece, and senior Megan Schiaffo added two assists.
- Sophomore Mary-Kate Sweeney made six saves in the victory.
