Philadelphia, PA – The Molloy men's lacrosse team fell to the Chestnut Hill Griffins, 12-5, Tuesday evening at Victory Field. Molloy fell to 3-7 overall, while the Griffins improve to 4-4.
How it Happened
- Freshman Bryan Diliberto netted the first goal of the contest with 4:42 remaining in the first quarter.
- Freshman Christian Michaels made seven saves in the opening stanza to keep Molloy ahead, 1-0, heading into the second quarter.
- Chestnut Hill held Molloy scoreless in the second stanza and scored five consecutive goals, giving the Griffins a, 5-1, lead heading into halftime.
- Freshman Patrick Dempsey and graduate student Jack Egan broke the scoring drought, netting a goal apiece to bring Molloy within three, 6-3, with 8:28 remaining in the third quarter.
- The Griffins responded quickly, tallying a goal 32 seconds later to reestablish its four-goal lead, 7-3, with under eight minutes to go.
- Two minutes later, junior Ryan Downing brought the Lions back within three, 7-4, with under six minutes remaining in the third.
- The home team put together consecutive goals in a 42 second span to take a, 9-4, advantage with 4:06 to play.
- Graduate student Nick Del Giorno tallied a goal with two minutes remaining in the third quarter. Molloy trailed, 9-5, heading into the fourth.
- Chestnut Hill kept Molloy off the scoreboard in the fourth and went on to score three goals in the final frame to close out the 12-5 victory.
