12 Lions Net Goals in Women’s Lacrosse Victory at Felician

Rutherford, N.J. – The Molloy women's lacrosse team took down the Felician Golden Falcons, 23-3, Friday afternoon at Tryon Field. The Lions improved to 5-4, while Felician fell to 1-5.
 
How it Happened
  • Junior Amanda Weber kick started the offense, netting a pair of goals to give Molloy an early 2-0 lead.
  • Sophomore Hailey Dazzo, freshman Brenna Signorelli, and seniors Megan Schiaffo and Abbie Bellport each found the back of the net in the opening stanza, putting Molloy ahead, 6-0, going into the second quarter.
  • Felician scored its first goal of the contest 1:58 into the second, cutting the deficit to five, 6-1, with 13:02 left in the first half.
  • The Lions offense was relentless for the remainder of the half. Weber scored three goals, Bellport netted a pair, Dazzo, Signorelli, junior Joanna Mauceri, and freshman Alyssa Oddo tallied a goal apiece, giving the maroon and white a commanding, 15-1 lead going into halftime.
  • 17 seconds into the third quarter, freshman Felicia Delia scored one of her two third quarter goals to extend the lead to 15, 16-1.
  • Frehsman Sofia Quitoni, senior Kara Rosenberg, Signorelli, and Oddo all found the back of the net in the third stanza, propelling Molloy ahead, 21-2, heading into the final quarter.
  • The Golden Falcons scored a minute into the fourth, bringing the Molloy lead to 18, 21-3.
  • Freshman Isabella Klemm and junior Jamie Maddaluno scored the final two goals of the contest, ending the game with a 23-3 victory.
 
Top Performances
  • Weber tallied six points (five goals and one assist).
  • Bellport and Signorelli netted three goals apiece.
  • Delia, Dazzo, and Oddo each found the back of the net twice.
  • Freshman Carly Howell paced the team with three ground balls.
  • Sophomore Ryan Smith caused a team-high two turnovers.
  • In goal, sophomore Mary-Kate Sweeney earned her fifth win of the season.

Molloy will travel to Connecticut to play the University of New Haven Thursday, March 24. Game is set to begin at 7:00 p.m.
