Winter Haven, Fl. – The Molloy softball team was defeated by the Bentley Falcons, 10-3 and 1-0, Friday afternoon at the Diamond Plex. The Lions moved to 3-10, while the Falcons improved to 10-6.
Game One: Molloy 3, Bentley 10
- The Falcons jumped ahead 1-0 in the top of the first.
- The Lions evened the score, 1-1, in the third. Senior Amanda King hit a sacrifice fly, which scored junior Karsyn Eaton.
- Bentley scored one in the fourth and three in the fifth to take a 5-1 advantage.
- In the bottom half of the fifth, graduate student Courtney Greene blasted a two-run home run, which was her third of the season, to center field to cut the lead to 5-3.
- The Falcons scored four runs in the sixth and one in the seventh to go up 10-3.
- Junior Katie Hand and Greene recorded two hits each.
Game Two: Molloy 0, Bentley 1
- Bentley scored one run in the fourth.
- In the seventh, Greene walked and King singled, but the maroon and white failed to even the score.
- Senior Alex Burns, and junior Akemi Poyer and Emma Bachman collected hits.
- King struck out three batters in six innings pitched.
