Waltham, Mass. – The Molloy women's lacrosse team fell to the Bentley Falcons, 18-10, Wednesday afternoon at Bentley field. The Lions fell to 4-4, while the Falcons improve to 2-0.
How it Happened
- 32 seconds into the contest, junior Amanda Weber found the back of the net to give Molloy an early 1-0 lead.
- Bentley responded with a goal of its own to tie the game at one with 13:40 left in the first quarter.
- Defense dominated the next eight minutes of action, as both teams had a hard time scoring, but freshman Sofia Quitoni broke the deadlock to give the Lions a, 2-1, advantage with over five minutes remaining.
- The home team tallied the final two goals of the opening stanza. Molloy trailed, 3-2, going into the second.
- The Falcons continued its scoring run into the second quarter, added two more goals to the scoreboard to bring its lead to three, 5-2, with 8:32 left in the first half.
- 12 seconds later, Weber stopped the run, scoring her second goal of the day to bring the Lions within two, 5-3.
- Over the next four minutes, Bentley put together a 3-0 rally to extend its lead to five, 8-3, with over four minutes to go.
- Weber scored the final two goals of the half, in-between two Bentley goals. Bentley held a, 10-5, lead going into halftime.
- Bentley started the third quarter scoring consecutive goals on man-up opportunities, Molloy was behind, 12-5, with 13:44 left in the third stanza.
- 25 seconds later, Weber continued her offensive hot streak, netting her fifth goal of the afternoon, cutting the deficit to six, 12-6.
- The Falcons scored the next two goals to go ahead, 14-6, with over nine minutes remaining in the third quarter.
- In the final two minutes of the third, freshman Brenna Signorelli and Quitoni each tallied a goal to bring Molloy within six, 14-8, heading into the final quarter.
- Under a minute into the fourth, junior Joanna Mauceri continued the offensive attack, tallying her first goal to cut the deficit to five, 14-9.
- Bentley scored three consecutive goals to reclaim its eight-goal advantage, 17-9, with over 12 minutes left in the contest.
- Weber found the back of the net for her sixth goal to bring Molloy within seven, 17-10, with 10:16 to go in the fourth,
- The home team tallied the final goal of the contest to go on and secure the 18-10 victory.
