Rockville Centre, N.Y. – The Molloy women's basketball team fell to the Daemen Wildcats, 71-54, Wednesday evening at Quealy Gymnasium. The Lions moved to 15-9 overall and 12-5 in ECC play, while the Wildcats improved to 17-4 overall and 15-1 in conference play.
How it Happened
- Down 10-8, the Lions scored six straight points, led by four points from senior Gabriella Aspuru, to take a 14-10 advantage.
- Daemen ended the quarter with a 6-0 rally and led 16-14 at the end of the first stanza.
- The Wildcats started the second frame on an 8-0 run to extend their lead to 24-14.
- Graduate student Safiyyah Lee made a layup to make it 27-22, and the away team led 30-22 at the half.
- Daemen outscored Molloy 23-14 in the third quarter and had a 53-36 advantage after 30 minutes of play.
- The Lions cut the lead to 10, 61-51, with 4:49 left, but that was as close as they would get.
