Men's Lacrosse Falls to #7 Seton Hill to Open Season

Rockville Centre, N.Y. - The men's lacrosse team returned to the field for the first time in 2022 this afternoon against the #7 Griffins of Seton Hill University, falling by a score of 18-5.

How it Happened
  • Seton Hill's McGarity Harper scored two quick goals to open the contest before graduate student Nick Del Giorno finished a feed from junior Sean Plasencia to cut the lead in half.
  • The Griffins would find the back of the net twice in the next minute before sophomore Chris Delaney brought Molloy within one, 4-2. 
  • The opening quarter saw a 5-2 lead in favor of the visitor after 15 minute of play.
  • Graduate student Jack Egan fed freshman Bryan Diliberto, who tallied his first collegiate goal five minutes into the second quarter, setting the score at 6-3. 
  • The visitors would score four-straight goals before Diliberto connected with junior Ryan Downing to make it 10-4.
  • Seton Hill added five markers before Downing buried another pass from Diliberto to make it 15-5 headed into the final 15 minutes of play.
  • The Griffins scored three times in the final quarter to round out the scoring. 
Top Performances
  • Diliberto topped the offense with three points on one goal and two assists.
  • Downing netted two goals while Del Giorno and Delaney each added one. 
  • Graduate student Sean Daly and senior Jordan Arbouet each picked up three ground balls and caused two turnovers, with Daly adding five face-off victories. 
  • Sophomore Denver Tveter also forced two turnovers.
  • Downing, senior Brian Ford, junior Scott Capicchioni and sophomore Liam Linden each added two ground balls. 
  • Sophomore Christian Michaels made 14 saves in the effort with sophomore Adam Hyman adding seven in relief.
