Buffalo, N.Y. – In a back-and-forth battle inside College Center Gym, the Molloy women's basketball team defeated the Saints of D'Youville University, 55-52, Sunday afternoon. The Lions improve to 2-6 overall and 1-1 in ECC play with the win, while the Saints fall to 2-4 and 1-1 in league play with the loss.
How it Happened
- Field goals from freshman Casey Campo, graduate student Gianni Domond, and a pair of free throws from freshman Brianna James had the contest knotted at six midway through the opening quarter.
- D'Youville put together a 5-0 run to take a 11-6 lead with under four minutes remaining in the opening stanza.
- The Lions fought back to go on a 10-3 rally, highlighted by five points from James to take a 16-14 lead heading into the second quarter.
- Both teams traded baskets as the second stanza began, but a layup from junior Trinity Hudson gave Molloy a two-point lead, 20-19, with 6:21 remaining in the first half.
- The home team held a four-point advantage, 26-22, following a three-point basket from Madison Clark with 2:05 to play in the quarter.
- A pair of free throws from sophomore Samantha Muller and a layup from Hudson with 43 seconds remaining brought the score to all square, 26-26, heading into halftime.
