Rockville Centre, N.Y. – The Molloy women's basketball team fell to the Redhawks of Roberts Wesleyan University, 59-57, in a close-knit ECC battle inside Quealy Gymnasium, Saturday afternoon. Molloy falls to 2-7 overall and 1-2 in ECC play, while the Redhawks improved to 2-6 overall and 1-1 in league play.
How it Happened
- Baskets from junior Trinity Hudson and sophomore Samantha Muller pushed Molloy ahead, 5-0, in the first 2:08 of play.
- The road team put together a 9-0 run to pull ahead, 9-5, with 5:36 remaining in the first quarter.
- A pair of free throws from Hudson and sophomore Danielle Hippner knotted the contest at nine.
- Molloy trailed, 16-12, after the first quarter of play.
- Graduate student Gianni Domond opened the second stanza with three consecutive points to bring the Lions within one, 16-15.
- Roberts Wesleyan went on a 9-4 rally to pull ahead, 25-19, with 2:37 left in the first half.
- A three-point basket from freshman Rosa Rizzitelli, a layup from Husdon, and a free-throw from Muller capped a 6-0 run to knot the contest at 25 heading into halftime.
- Four of Molloy's six points in the third quarter came from freshman Casey Campo to give the Lions the lead, 31-27.
- The road team responded with a 10-0 run to reclaim the lead, 37-31, with 3:17 remaining in the third stanza.
- The cardinal and white closed the third quarter on a 12-4 rally, capped by a layup from freshman Brianna James to take a two-point lead, 43-41, into the fourth quarter.
- Both teams traded baskets to begin the fourth stanza, but a layup from Campo kept the home team ahead, 49-48, with 5:30 left on the scoreboard.
- A free-throw from James and a layup from Hippner extended the Lions lead to, 54-51, with 3:35 to play.
- Back-to-back three-point baskets from Roberts Wesleyan guard Danielle Dicintio pushed the Redhawks ahead, 57-54, with under two minutes to go.
- Rizzitelli drained a three from the left corner to knot the contest at 57 with 71 seconds remaining in the contest.
- The road team sunk a layup with 0.5 seconds to play to seal the victory, 59-57.

- Hudson paced the Lions with 14 points, 11 rebounds, and four steals.
