Garden City, N.Y. – The Molloy women's basketball team fell to the Panthers of Adelphi University, 66-55, inside the Center Recreation of and Sport Wednesday evening. Molloy falls to 2-8 overall with the loss, while the Panthers move to 5-4 overall.
How it Happened
- Graduate student Gianni Domond and junior Trinity Hudson combined for eight of the Lions first 10 points of the contest. Molloy trailed, 12-10, with under four minutes left in the opening stanza.
- Adelphi closed the quarter on a 11-0 rally to take a 23-10 lead into the second quarter.
- Midway through the second stanza, the home team opened up its lead to, 34-17.
- Molloy ended the first half on a 10-6 scoring run, highlighted by Rosa Rizzitelli who netted five points. The Lions trailed, 40-27, heading into halftime.
- Back-to-back jump shots from sophomore Samantha Muller and Domond cut the Molloy deficit to 12, 47-35, with 4:31 remaining in the third quarter.
- Following a 10-2 scoring run, the home team took its largest lead of the contest, 57-37, heading into the fourth quarter.
- The Cardinal and White began the final stanza with a 12-3 run to pull within 10, 60-50, but that is as close as they would come, as a Adelphi would hold off the Lions and come out victorious, 66-55.
Top Performances
- Freshman Brianna James and Muller paced the offense with 11 points each.
- Hudson totaled nine points and brought down 10 rebounds.
- Domond added nine points and seven rebounds.
