New Haven, Conn. – The Molloy field hockey team fell to the Owls of Southern Connecticut State, 1-0, Monday night at Jess Dow Field. Molloy now sits at 1-15 overall 0-12 in Northeast-10 play with the loss white Southern Connecticut improved to 5-12 overall and 4-9 in league play.
How it Happened
- Molloy generated two shots in the opening quarter. Freshman Madison Stuckart had her shot saved by the defense and Owls goalie Kaitlyn Parent denied sophomore Devin Harkins chance.
- The home team earned a penalty stroke and scored to take a 1-0 lead with no time remaining in the first quarter.
- In the second quarter, sophomore Aly Anderson created a scoring chance with a shot, but her attempt was denied.
- Graduate student Lizzie Weiner had her shot denied by the second defensive safe of the contest with 5:22 left in the second quarter.
- Molloy held SCSU without a shot in the second stanza, but went to the locker room behind, 1-0.
- The third quarter was all about goaltending. Junior Ally Saigh made three saves in the quarter to keep the score, 1-0, heading into the fourth.
- The home team held Molloy without a shot in the final stanza to go on and clinch the victory, 1-0.
