Rockville Centre, N.Y. – The Molloy women's basketball team fell to the Golden Falcons of Felician, 62-43, Sunday afternoon inside Quealy Gymnasium. Molloy moves to 1-5 with the loss, while Felician improved to 3-1.
How it Happened
- The road team opened the contest on a 12-2 run with over three minutes to play in the first quarter.
- Molloy closed the opening stanza on a 10-2 run, highlighted by Rosa Rizzitelli who netted five points. Molloy trailed, 14-12, heading into the second quarter.
- Felician outscored the Lions 19-3 in the second quarter, to take a 33-15 lead heading into halftime.
- Sophomore Samantha Muller netted the first four points of the second half to close the deficit to 14, 33-19, with over eight minutes to play in the third quarter.
- A pair of free throws from junior Trinity Hudson kept Molloy within 14, 38-24, midway through the third stanza.
- Freshman Brianna James converted two free throws with 30 seconds remaining in the quarter, to cut the lead down to 12, 44-32, heading into the fourth quarter.
- Hudson sank two more free throws to begin the final stanza, but Felician would not allow the Lions to gain any more ground, as the Golden Falcons shot 46 percent from the field in the final 10 minutes of play en route to the victory.
Top Performances
- Hudson led Molloy with 16 points and 10 rebounds for her second double-double of the season.
- Graduate student Gianni Domond totaled six points, grabbed eight rebounds, and shot 50 percent from the field.
