Orangeburg, N.Y. - The women's basketball team fell to Caldwell University, 60-44, this morning from the Hennessy Center in Orangeburg, N.Y. With the loss, Molloy fell to 0-3 on the season while the Cougars improved to 2-1.
How it Happened
- Down 5-2 in the early minutes, the cardinal and white responded with a six-point run with baskets from sophomore Samantha Muller, graduate student Gianni Domond, and senior Trinity Hudson to take an 8-5 lead.
- Molloy would end the first frame up one, 10-9.
- Caldwell scored the first 13 points of the second quarter to lead by as much as 12 points, 22-10.
- Seven points from Domond over the next two minutes would bring the Lions within five, 22-17, but the teams entered the locker rooms with the score at 30-19 in favor of the Cougars.
- Sophomore Janel Moore made the only Molloy basket in the third quarter. The Lions trailed by 21, 49-28, headed into the final 10 minutes of play.
- A layup from Muller in the final minute brought Molloy within 16, 60-44, but that was as close as the Lions would come before time expired.
Top Performance
- Domond led the Lions with 13 points and six rebounds while adding three steals.
- Sophomore Danielle Hippner also pulled down six boards.
- Hudson topped the squad with four steals to go with five points and five rebounds.
- Muller (9) and Moore (8) rounded out Molloy's scoring.
