Springfield, Mass. - The volleyball team concluded its 2022 season with a loss in the quarterfinal of the NCAA East Regional Tournament. The eighth-seeded Lions fell to the top-seeded Yellow Jackets of American International College, 3-0. Molloy ends the season with a record of 16-12.

How it Happened

• Molloy scored the first two points of the contest off attacks from junior Chye Davis.
• AIC would tie the contest before Molloy once again took a 4-2 lead following a kill from freshman Canyen Rodriguez.
• Molloy put together a four-point run to lead, 12-9, on kills and blocks from Davis and junior Kathleen Doherty.
• The Yellow Jackets responded with four unanswered points to go in front, 13-12.
• The score would be tied seven more times, including as late as 23-23, before AIC took the last two points for the first set victory.
• The cardinal and white opened the second set on a four-point run with kills from Davis and freshman Kaitlin Jordan as well as ace from freshman Aria Miller.
• The home team would respond to tie the contest, 6-6, before extending the lead to 9-6.
• Molloy would respond with five of the next six points with two kills from Doherty, a kill from Davis, and a kill and ace from Rodriguez to go in front, 11-10.
• The Yellow Jackets would respond to take a 17-14 lead before kills from Jordan and Doherty tied the contest at 18.
• Molloy was able to keep the contest within two until AIC sealed the second set with back-to-back points.
• The score was tied five times through the first half of the third set before AIC scored ten of eleven points to lead, 20-11.
• The Lions would come within eight, 21-13, before the Yellow Jackets sealed the contest.

Top Performances

• Davis led the Lions with 13 kills, attacking at a .478 clip while also leading with three blocks.
• Jordan and Doherty each added eight kills with Doherty chipping in eight digs, two blocks, and one ace.
• Miller recorded 25 digs while Rodriguez had 32 assists, two aces, four kills, and three digs.
