Field Hockey Battles Against Franklin Pierce

Seaford, N.Y. - The field hockey team dropped a 3-0 decision to Franklin Pierce University this morning at Cedar Creek Park. The loss sets the Lions at 1-9 (0-6 Northeast-10 Conference) while the Ravens improve to 4-7 (3-3 NE10).

How it Happened
  • Junior goalkeeper Ally Saigh and the Molloy defense kept the Ravens off the board for the first half, with Saigh making five saves and freshman Lizzy Hedgecock making a defensive stop.
  • The Ravens were primed to score in the final seconds of the second quarter, but Rebecca Phillips missed the net on her penalty stroke attempt.
  • Franklin Pierce came out of the break hot, scoring three goals in a span of five and a half minutes, including one off a penalty corner.
  • The Lions had a goal waved off in the final minutes of the third quarter and remained off the board entering the final 15 minutes of play.
  • In the opening minutes of the fourth quarter, graduate student Lizzie Weiner was also unable to net her penalty stroke, keeping the contest at  3-0.
  • Molloy, who maintained an 8-3 advantage on penalty corners, earned three in the final three minutes but were unable to find the back of the net.
