Dalli Scores in Field Hockey Loss at #2 East Stroudsburg

East Stroudsburg, Pa. – The field hockey team fell, 4-1, at #2 East Stroudsburg this afternoon from Whitenight Field. The loss drops the Lions to 0-2, while the Warriors improve to 1-2.
 
How It Happened
  • The two teams battled in the opening quarter, with sophomore goalie Ally Saigh making four saves to keep the game scoreless.
  • The home team broke through in the second quarter, scoring the first two goals of the game, leaving ESU with a 2-0 lead at the half.
  • The Warriors added to the lead, scoring midway through the third, to extend the lead to 3-0.
  • The Lions found the back of the cage late in the third quarter, as junior Kyra Dalli scored the first goal of the season with under 30 seconds remaining.
  • ESU would go on to score one final goal, ending the game with a 4-1 final score.
  • Freshman Kassandra Sakhat collected her first collegiate point, assisting on Dalli's goal.
  • In goal, Saigh made 27 saves on 31 shots on goal from the home team.
 
Up Next
  • The Lions will return home Saturday (Sept. 11) as they host American International College at 12 p.m. to open up conference play.
