Nicolich Nets Goal in 89th Minute; Women's Soccer Tops Stonehill, 1-0

Easton, Mass. – The Molloy women's soccer team topped the Stonehill Skyhawks, 1-0, at Skyhawk Field Sunday. The Lions improved to 2-0, while the Skyhawks fell to 0-1.

How it Happened
  • Senior Dana Poetzsch had two shots stopped in the 16th and 29th minutes by Stonehill goalkeeper Hanna Copley.
  • The Lions outshot the Skyhawks 4-1 in the first half, but the match was scoreless at the break.
  • In the 89th minute, junior Lexi Verni had a chance denied. Later in the minute, junior Sienna Nicolich score off of a pass from Verni.
Top Performances
  • Nicolich netted her first goal with the marron and white.
  • Verni tallied her first assist of the season.
  • Poetzsch led the team with three shots.
  • Junior Jackie Carty made four saves for her second shutout of the season and the 24th of her career.
