Seaford, N.Y. – The field hockey team fell, 1-0, to Mercy College this afternoon in the 2021 season opener. The Lions fell to 0-1, while the Mavericks improved to 1-0.
 
How it Happened

• Molloy had the first scoring chance of the game when freshman Alexa Denis put one on net, forcing a Mavericks save.
• The road team struck first on the scoreboard, netting the first goal of the contest with 29 seconds remaining in the first quarter.
• Sophomore goalkeeper Ally Saigh made a key save in the second quarter to hold the Mavericks' lead to one at the half.
• With three minutes to go in regulation, junior Kyra Dalli found Denis on a break away for a scoring chance, with the shot going just wide of the cage.
• The Lions finished the game with six total shots, two coming from junior Erin Tudryn, while Dalli and Denis added two shots of their own.
