Field Hockey Downed at New Haven

West Haven, CT – The field hockey team fell, 7-1, this evening at Ralph F. Dellacamera Stadium. The loss drops the Lions to 0-5 (0-3 NE10), while the Chargers improve to 5-4 (5-0 NE10).
 
How it happened
  • The home team didn't waste any time, scoring in the first three minutes to take the early advantage.
  • New Haven would add two more goals to the scoreboard extending the lead to three with just over eight minutes to play in the opening quarter.
  • Freshman Jessica Kofod put a shot on goal but was saved by the Chargers goalkeeper.
  • The Lions defense kept the Chargers lead at three, blocking two shots in the second quarter.
  • The Chargers would go on a 4-0 scoring run, extending their lead to seven with over twelve minutes to play in regulation.
  • Freshman Gianna Festa recorded her first shot on goal with just under three minutes to play.
  • Seconds later, junior Kyra Dalli capitalized netting her second goal of the season.
  • In goal sophomore Ally Saigh made six saves.
