Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. – The Molloy baseball team split a doubleheader with the Mercy Mavericks Friday afternoon at Mercy Field. The Mavericks won game one 7-6, and the Lions won the second game 1-0. The maroon and white moved to 18-9 overall and 14-4 in league play, while the Mavericks moved to 18-10 overall and 14-6 in conference play.
Game One: Mercy 7, Molloy 6
- The Lions plated four runs in the top of the first to take a 4-0 lead. Senior Sean Hogan hit a two-RBI single, redshirt junior Thomas Brady hit a sacrifice fly, and senior Matt Overton came home on a throwing error.
- Mercy scored two runs in the bottom of the first and second to even the game, 4-4.
- In the top of the third, Overton hit a two-RBI double to put the maroon and white ahead 6-4.
- The Mavericks tallied three runs in the seventh to take a 7-6 advantage.
Game Two: Molloy 1, Mercy 0
- Brady hit an RBI double in the fourth to score the game's only run.
- Overton recorded a game-high three hits.
- Sophomore Charlie Cucchiara threw a complete game shutout and struck out five to improve to 3-2 on the season.
