Uniondale, N.Y. – The Molloy baseball team topped the Lincoln Lions, 9-7, at Mitchel Field Tuesday afternoon. The Lions improved to 17-8 overall and 13-3 in ECC play, while Lincoln moved to 4-17 overall and 4-11 in league play.
How it Happened
- Graduate student Sean Hogan grounded out, which scored senior Peter Theodorellis, to put Molloy ahead 1-0 in the first inning.
- Junior Chris Peralta hit a two-run home run to left field to increase the Lions' lead to 3-0 in the second.
- Lincoln cut the lead to 3-1 with a run in the top of the third.
- In the bottom of third, senior Matt Overton hit a two-RBI single, Peralta scored Overton on a fielder's choice, and sophomore David Franchi hit an RBI single to extend the advantage to 7-1.
- The away team scored two runs in the fifth to cut the lead to 7-3.
- Senior James Messina hit a two-RBI single to make it 9-3 in the bottom of the fifth.
- Lincoln scored two runs in the sixth and one in the eight to shrink the maroon and white's advantage to 9-7.

- Peralta tallied three RBIs, three runs scored, and one hit.
- Messina and Overton drove in two runs each.
- Hogan, Theodorellis, and McCarthy recorded two hits.
- Junior Billy Wildeman pitched five innings and struck out four batters to pick up his first win of the season.
- Sophomore AJ Verga didn't give up an earned run in 3.2 innings pitched and fanned two batters to record his second save of the year.
